‘She strides across deep watter like it is nothing but a burn.’
I spend most of my time thinking about the Irish Sea.
I am a storyteller, writer and filmmaker from the edges of Belfast. I grew up staring across the water towards Scotland, and in 2022 I became an Apprentice Storyteller with the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. Now my work takes me back and forth over the waters between Ireland and Scotland regularly.
I believe modern life and traditional storytelling are not at odds. To the contrary, they are a perfect foil to each other: places of isolation and solace on the journey through old dark forest and shining tech portals. It is only through knowing both we can see the value of each. It is only through the sharing of the voice that we realise we are unique and alike.
